The pettiness of George Bush
Obama wanted to move into Blair House early so his children could start school, but it was reported that it was unavailable. Now we find out why: John Howard, the ex-Prime Minister of Australia, is in town for one night to receive a Medal of Freedom.
But there is more to it than “not available because it’s in use”. It’s a large house, with 119 rooms. In the Washington Post’s report, the Bush Administration expected that three heads of State might occupy it simultaneously. Apparently, two heads of State won’t fit, though. Bush should award himself a Medal of Shame for this petty act.
